Today I would like to share with you some creations which features Close To My Heart’s Featured collection – Comfort and Joy.

Christmas Card #1

My first card is a Christmas card that I created for the CTMH card swap group for September that I’m apart of. The brief was to use embossing and a thin cut.

I used a snowflake embossing folder on the white daisy card stock and used one of the new colours Scarlet underneath.

I used circle thin cuts in 3 different sizes to create the Christmas tree however I needed a really small circle too.

After trying different things, I found in the number thin cuts that there was a small circle that was to use as a dot however it worked well for what I needed.

To finish off the card, I cut a star out using the Cricut and stamped my sentiments in Evergreeen and sponged it around the edge.

Christmas Card #2

Also with the card swap group, I received a Pop up Cube Card as one of the cards for our fathers day cards.

I though this was so cool, that I had to recreate it and what was great is that it folds flat for easy posting.

I found an example on Pinterest for follow and this size fits our standard envelopes.

Below are 2 cards I created using Comfort and Joy paper and sticker sheet.

Below are the measures that I used

  • One card base strip cut at 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
  • Two card base strips cut at 1 3/4″ x 8 1/2″
  • Then score all the strips at 1 3/4″, 3 1/2″, 5 1/4″ and 7″
  • The B&T papers are cut at 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ and you need 6 of these
  • Then decorate as you like however make sure that you stay with in the card or it will not fit in your envelope

Scrapbook Layout

For my scrapbook layout, I used the creative insider for Comfort and Joy however I used different paper and embellishments.

I added a mini envelope to my page using the mini envelope thin cut and the Santa is from jolly characters stamp set. I just thought they look so cute I had to use them somewhere.

CTMH Party Time Australasian Blog Hop

Hello and welcome aboard our CTMH Party Time Australasian Blog Hop.

Today I would like to share with you some scrapbooking layouts which features Close To My Heart’s Party Time Constant Campaign.

This paper pack is so bright and cheery, not to mention perfect for both male and female birthday party scrapbook layouts.

When “playing” with this paper, I decided to use photos from my son’s 4th birthday.

Party Time Layout 1…

Here in my first layout, I combined the Party Time paper with leftover wooden buttons and acrylic heart’s from other paper packs to create a hot air balloon.

The title “Celebrate” was from the sticker sheet and I tried to make it replicate a sign flying through the air.

My original idea was to have the photos hanging from the balloon but as you can see it was not going to work. So I changed it to a basket and added the number 4 to it.

When creating the hot air balloon, I found an image in Cricut design space of a hot air balloon and then cut out the basic shape.

Before adding the buttons and hearts, I coloured the buttons using our Spectrum Noir Tri-blend Markers.

After sticking all the buttons and hearts down I added clear shimmer brush to the buttons and added Waterfall Stickles to the acrylic hearts.

Party Time Layout 2…

My second layout was created using a pattern from Make it from your heart Vol. 2.

As the photos I wanted to use were from my son’s 4th birthday party, I wanted lots of the B&T paper that spoke “birthday”.

I deliberately left some white areas as the paper is quite busy so I didn’t add to many embellishments, just a few stickers here and there.

I decided to change one the photo mats to a journalling box as I only had 5 photos and all my photos were horizontal, so there were not going to fit on the layout.

However, with some thought and strategic cutting I made them fit.

Just A Tip I’ve learnt….

When taking your photos, take some in horizontal and portrait orientation so then you can decide which ones will work well for your scrapbook layouts. 🙂

Check out my video here or on YouTube as I show you how I put together my second layout. (Be sure to hit Subscribe while you’re over there to see future videos)

This exclusive Party Time is available in our new core catalogue and until August 2021 or until stocks last.

CTMH Australasian Bloom With Grace Blog Hop

CTMH Australasian Bloom With Grace Blog Hop

Hello and welcome aboard our Bloom With Grace Australasian Close to My Heart Blog Hop.

If you have arrived here from Passionate About Pages then you are in the right place.

If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

Today I would like to share with you a couple of creations which features Close To My Heart’s Featured collection Bloom With Grace.

Bloom with Grace paper collection lends itself well to Flowers, Autumn or Halloween photos and many more.

There are pumpkins, sunflowers, leaves and with the introduction of the new colours, Sundance, Cinnamon, and Desert Rose the possibilities for this paper collection are countless.

For my scrapbook layouts, I got my inspiration from Pinterest and these layouts are quick and easy to put together.

I like to scrapbook quickly as sometimes I am time poor (as we all are these days 😉 ).

For this blog hop, I decided to create 2 different layouts using an Autumn theme.

I used the photos of my youngest son at Easter in 2014 because in Australia, Easter is in the Autumn.

For me, in my scrapbooking, I like to add photos and make the new paper collections work for the photos I want to scrap.

Bloom with Grace Layout 1

Firstly, I drew a circle as guideline using my Cricut Maker however the same can be achieved using a compass or a dinner plate.

Then I started cutting out 2″ x 2″ squares from the B&T paper and included some cardstock as well to break up all the patterns.

My title “So Beautiful” was also cut using my Cricut Maker as was the flower cluster and I added some glitter gems for a bit of “something, something”.

Bloom with Grace Layout 2

I again used my Cricut Maker to cut out the sunflower and stars but this time I decided to use the Classic Alphabet Thin Cuts for my title “Shine”.

The idea for my title came from the sticker sheet of Bloom with Grace.

The small strips were dove tailed to add some visual dimension.

Feel free to use these scrapbook layouts designs in your own scrapbooking.

Paper Piecing for Scrapbooking |Technique | Made Simple

Paper Piecing for Scrapbooking |Technique | Made Simple

Wow, I learnt a new technique recently called Paper Piecing for Scrapbooking and I thought I need to share this with you.

This technique is quite simple and can be as complicated as you want to make it. It depends on the stamped image that you choose to use.

This is the link to where I learnt this technique.

Paper Piecing Flower

What is paper piecing?

If you have never heard of paper piecing and if you don’t’ know what it is, then stay tuned and I’ll explain…

When you hear the term “paper piecing”, people mostly think it’s a quilting technique however it can be used in your scrapbook layouts and card making.

When using this technique, it can give you an effect that you can’t necessarily get when using markers or pencils because you are using patterned paper.

Let me share how I created a patterned flower.

My Method…

I started by stamping an image onto “plain card stock” in this case I used white daisy card stock and then stamped this image again onto patterned paper (B&T) or card stock.

The stamp I used to create my flower

Then I started cutting out the pieces I wanted to use from the patterned paper. I use micro-tip scissors for my fussy cutting as they are super sharp and have a great pointed tip for all those intricate pieces.

If you would like to know more about these scissors, please take a look here.

Cutting out pieces that are needed

Once I had cut out all my pieces from the flower and leaves, I stuck them onto the image on the white daisy card stock.

As a case in point…

On this scrapbook layout, I used the paper pieced flower to add another dimension to my layout.

My scrapbook layout using Paper Piecing Technique

Technique video…

Check out my video here or on YouTube as I show you how I created the flower using this technique. (Be sure to hit Subscribe while you’re over there to see future videos)

Thanks so much for dropping by to check out my latest project and I hope you enjoyed seeing this paper piecing for scrapbooking technique.

I’d love to hear if you have tried paper piecing too, so feel free to leave me a comment.

Today I would like to share with you a creation which features Close To My Heart’s Featured Collection – TIMBER –

Great Outdoors…..

For my Timber Australasian Close To My Heart Blog Hop post I decided I was going to do a scrapbook layout.

I found a similar layout on Pinterest that was used for a hiking layout however I thought this layout would go great with the Cricut® Timber Collection because of the trees and wood.

Timber felt really outdoorsy to me so I’m planning on adding some photos from my son’s scouting adventures to this layout.

I decided that I would use the brown wood panel paper for the photos mats and for my title.

My “Adventure this Way” title was created using one of the Picture My Life™ cards as a guide.

Having not used daubers as much in my scrapbooking I thought I would try my hand at sponging on ink using a dauber onto a couple of the trees.

I used New England Ivy ink and dabbed the ink onto the trees, it gives the trees a nice textured look. Don’t you think?

Process Video….

Check out my video here or on YouTube as I show you step by step how to create this outdoor layout. (Be sure to hit Subscribe while you’re over there to see future videos)

CTMH August 2020 Stamp of the Month | Floral Celebration Blog Hop

CTMH August 2020 Stamp of the Month | Floral Celebration Blog Hop

Hello and welcome aboard our CTMH Australasian Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We will be featuring August SOTM, Floral Celebration

If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

Flowers, Stamps and Inks! Oh My….

Today I would like to share with you some handmade cards which features Close To My Heart’s August Stamp of the Month.

Isn’t this card fun? I found the design on Pinterest and I just knew I had to give it a go using Floral Celebration.

It is called Peekaboo Pullback or Collar Fold Card. It looks quite tricky however it’s very easy to assemble.

For my card I decided to used both Summer Vibes and Mix in Paper collections to complete these,

however this could be recreated in just about any paper you could think of.

The Instructions….

The piece I used for the Peekaboo Fold measures 4″ x 5 1/4″ and I like to use the pre-made card bases to create my cards.

To find the middle so you can create the fold is pretty simple maths…LOL

Half of 4″ is 2″ so you will go 2″ up and half of 5 1/4″ is 2 5/8″ so using those measurements I was able to find the middle.

Once you have cut that paper, fold over the flaps to create the Peekabook effect and as you can see this can be used in a number of different papers.

I used the flowers, leaves and sentiments from the August Stamp of the Month to complete my card.

On this card, I used clear shimmer brush, gold shimmer brush and gold stickles to add some sparkle to the flower and card itself.

This is the card that I show how to create in my YouTube video and I used Bitty Sparkles on the card to add a bit of “Something Something”.

I featured the flower from the stamp set however if you wanted a masculine card, you could add a car or the paper folded shirt I showed in a previous post.

Process Video….

Check out my video here or on YouTube as I show you create this card using Floral Celebration stamps. (Be sure to hit Subscribe while you’re over there to see future videos)

Flower Scrapbook Layout |ft: Bring Back My Pack ~ Brushed

Flower Scrapbook Layout |ft: Bring Back My Pack ~ Brushed

Wow, how lovely is this paper? Today, I am sharing a flower scrapbook layout.

I was not a consultant when Close To My Heart had this pack previously so it’s a privileged to be able to “play”with it.

This paper collection is only available on my website until 31 July 2020 or until stocks last so you will need to be very quick to order yours.

My apologies for not getting this post up earlier however I have been recovering from eye surgery.

Blossoming All Around….

I decided that I needed to add lots of flowers to this layout because I really wanted to use the “A budding Friendship” stamp set.

Lots of Close To My Heart consultants have raved about this being one of their all time favourite sets so of course I had to see for myself.

And I can tell you, it didn’t disappoint…. 😉

I have included 6 3″ x 3″ photos onto this layout because sometimes I like to have lots of photos on one page.

I used the Rock and Roll stamping technique on the large flowers so the tips of the petals are Candy Apple and the rest is Smoothie and I also used 3D foam tape to pop up centre of the flower.

To do this, I stamped another flower and then fussy cut the centre out and placed it on top of the other flower.

I can see me playing with this paper until I only have a scrap left but at least I can use the stamps again and again and again…..

Process Video….

Today I would like to share with you a creation which features Close To My Heart’s Happiest Place collection.

Let The Fun Begin…

For the Close to My Heart Australasian Happiest Place Blog Hop, I had a tough time thinking about what I could create with this stunning paper because it so colourful, awesome and shiny and there are so many wonderful layouts I want to create BUT……

I manage to settle on this one. So what do you think? Great, isn’t it (even if I do say so myself…LOL)

This will be the title page for my photos from Luna Park, Melbourne. Also I deliberately made my title wonky to give it that fun effect.

My family and I had a holiday in Melbourne last year and to me this paper screams “Fun Times, Carnival and Rides”

Therefore it fits perfect for the photos I took on the day. Adding the balloons gives it a theme park feel. I cut the balloons and the popcorn elements on my Cricut Maker.

I love the shine on some of the card stock and the stickers. And those bold, bright papers are just amazing. Close To My Heart out did themselves when creating this paper collection.

Process Video….

Check out my video here or on YouTube as I show you how I put this Theme Park Layout together. (Be sure to hit Subscribe while you’re over there to see future videos)

Thrifty Thursday #2

Thrifty Thursday #2

Welcome to Thrifty Thursday #2, the next instalment.

In this instalment I show you how to use up scraps that they have lying around again.

I created a handmade card using 1/2″ strips of paper and I am using up the remainder of Stitched Together paper pack.

The 1/2″ strips can be assembled in many different directions. Like horizontal, vertical or even mix up the strips so they do diagonally in all different directions.

If you missed my first post in this series, please check it out here.
