CTMH Australasian Comfort and Joy Blog Hop

CTMH Australasian Comfort and Joy Blog Hop

Hello and welcome aboard our Comfort and Joy Australasian Close to My Heart Blog Hop.

If you have arrived here from Lauren More then you are in the right place.

If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

Today I would like to share with you some creations which features Close To My Heart’s Featured collection – Comfort and Joy.

Christmas Card #1

My first card is a Christmas card that I created for the CTMH card swap group for September that I’m apart of. The brief was to use embossing and a thin cut.

I used a snowflake embossing folder on the white daisy card stock and used one of the new colours Scarlet underneath.

I used circle thin cuts in 3 different sizes to create the Christmas tree however I needed a really small circle too.

After trying different things, I found in the number thin cuts that there was a small circle that was to use as a dot however it worked well for what I needed.

To finish off the card, I cut a star out using the Cricut and stamped my sentiments in Evergreeen and sponged it around the edge.

Christmas Card #2

Also with the card swap group, I received a Pop up Cube Card as one of the cards for our fathers day cards.

I though this was so cool, that I had to recreate it and what was great is that it folds flat for easy posting.

I found an example on Pinterest for follow and this size fits our standard envelopes.

Below are 2 cards I created using Comfort and Joy paper and sticker sheet.

Below are the measures that I used

  • One card base strip cut at 3 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
  • Two card base strips cut at 1 3/4″ x 8 1/2″
  • Then score all the strips at 1 3/4″, 3 1/2″, 5 1/4″ and 7″
  • The B&T papers are cut at 1 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ and you need 6 of these
  • Then decorate as you like however make sure that you stay with in the card or it will not fit in your envelope

Scrapbook Layout

For my scrapbook layout, I used the creative insider for Comfort and Joy however I used different paper and embellishments.

I added a mini envelope to my page using the mini envelope thin cut and the Santa is from jolly characters stamp set. I just thought they look so cute I had to use them somewhere.

Gnome Matter | How to Create a Handmade Card

Gnome Matter | How to Create a Handmade Card

Today, it’s all about this cute stamp set and it’s called Gnome Matter and I am sharing a handmade card.

I have been having so much fun “playing” with this stamp set and you can’t tell me that you don’t think he’s adorable too 😉

I have always loved garden gnomes so when Close To My Heart had this in the catalogue, I knew it would be one of the first stamps that I buy.

It’s available on my website until 31 August 2020 or until stock last.

However if you love it as much as I do then you better be quick and orders yours in case it sells out.

Home Sweet Gnome….

I have created a few things with this stamp set as it works on a handmade card or a scrapbook layout.

I created this card to send to a fellow consultant that has just bought a new house and I thought it would be a lovely card to send to her.

How To:

Using my Cricut Maker, I cut out the oval shape and the mushroom house and I used my Spectrum Noir TriBlend™ Markers to colour in the flowers, gnome and the hedgehog.

If you wish, you could colour in the gnome using water colour paints or pencils as these stamps are just screaming to be coloured in.

Another craft I enjoy is adult colouring. So having the ability to colour in some stamps is great because I get to combine my crafts.

To add some glittery effect to the gnome’s beard, I used the clear shimmer brush and don’t you think it adds something special to him.

I also used some 3D foam tape to add some dimension to the card.

Below are 2 scrapbook pages I created using this stamp set and as you can see it works quite well on a layout too.

Process Video….

I’d love to hear if what you have completed with this stamp set too, so feel free to leave me a comment.

My MUST HAVE Close To My Heart products | 2020

My MUST HAVE Close To My Heart products | 2020

We all have those products that we can’t live without. So today I am going to share with you my MUST HAVE Close To My Heart products.

Let’s start with the basics…

The VersaMat™ and SureCut™ Deluxe Craft Paper Trimmer are probably a big investment however they make scrapbooking much easier.

The VersaMat™ is 12″ x 12″ and has measurements all the way around and I use this all the time as it’s great for lining up and getting a straight edge.

Also the VersaMat™ has a “squishy” other side and this is perfect to use when stamping.

The SureCut™ Deluxe Craft Paper Trimmer makes cutting your paper a breeze and it has a swing out arm that measures up to 15″.

The wire cut-line indicator is another great addition as you know exactly where your cut will be.

Another two products that are a great investment is our Micro-tip and Non-Stick Micro-tip Scissors.

They are super sharp and the point makes them great for fussy cutting. The Non-stick Micro-Tip scissors features an adhesive resistant non-stick coated blade.

It is perfect for cutting through adhesives without sticking and getting all gunked up.

Warning: Please be careful when using scissors as they are very sharp.

Block Head…

When stamping I use my My Acrylix® Blocks because they are clear and I can see through when stamping my image.

They also have a guide line embedded into the block so you can use it to line up your stamps.

The My Acrylix® Block Starter Kit is a great kit because it includes one each of our most useful block sizes: (2″ × 2″, 3″ × 3″, 2″ × 3½”).

I started with this kit and have built up from there.

Let’s Talk Adhesive…

Close To My Heart offers a variety of different adhesives (glue) and there will be an adhesive for whatever you need.

  • Adhesive tape runners
  • 3-D foam tape and dots
  • Thin 3-D foam tape and dots
  • Micro glue dots and Mini glue dots
  • Dual tip permanent glue
  • Liquid glass

All our Adhesives are super strong and serve their purpose well.

The Tombow® Permanent Adhesive is the one I constantly use because it is refillable and acid free.

Our liquid glass is useful for adding accents to create a glossy / shiny effect.

So if you have a flower image and wanted to add a shine to the centre of the flower, this will be great to use but it can also be used as an adhesive.

Our foam tape and dots have a super strong hold and I always use them to add dimension to my page or card.

Our Micro glue dots and Mini glue dots are the ideal adhesive for adding all those little embellishments such as sequins to your page or card.

Check out my video here or on YouTube as I show you all these products. (Be sure to hit Subscribe while you’re over there to see future videos)

Now you have seen my must have close to my heart products, I’m off to create some sparkly pages…

but before I go I’d love to hear what your MUST HAVE scrapbooking products are, so feel free to leave me a comment.
